This is the Regal in 1988. Back in the day all you needed was a lowered stance and lots of sound coming from the stereo. It had that! The lowering was accomplished by heating the springs until they collapsed! Yikes! The stereo had many forms but the epitome was an Alpine head unit, Kenwood crossover, Orion 700 watt amp and two other smaller ones, four 15" woofers with two 10" for mids and it still had a back seat and all the trunk space! It had lots of bass. Anyhow, that's what led to it being stolen so afterwards the emphasis was on going fast, not loud!

After many years of planning and building, the car finally went under its own power. It had no seats, no interior, no clutch hydraulics! We had to sit on bricks and push it to get going and then finally driving it clutchless! Oh yeah, it also had the stock 2.29 7.5" open rear! That was fun!

This picture was taken when it was finally street worthy. In this condition it finally made it out and about to the place where it belongs. Cars are meant to be driven, you know!

The dash that has caused most people to ask, why. Well, why not? It was soaked from being exposed to the weather. It was stock and had no instrumentation. Making a new dash would save weight and add a unique look. This car was made to be different after all.

A quick picture of what I see through the steering wheel. Those little green lights on either side of the temp gauge are turn signal indicators.

I acquired a free Regal that had a perfect front clip. The original clip was damaged when it was stolen and I added to its bad looks one day after I took my frustration out on a fender. My hand was the real loser of that battle as I had some fat knuckles for a week! Apparent in this shot is the original vacuum pump set-up for the brakes. You can also see the old belt set-up that used a power steering and air pump bracket to hold the alternator. The oil cooler has also been moved.

With the new clip on it looks even worse! Now the only thing left from the original car is the frame and the body from the doors back.

Well, when the new engine comes together I'll have to snap a bunch of new pictures as many things have changed. It now has a carpet for the interior! Hopefully it won't be long before I can get it painted too.
